Software Solution Architect

About the role

At Brainsquare, we are looking for an experienced Software Solution Architect to support one of our enterprise clients in modernizing and harmonizing its application landscape. In this role, you’ll define smart, scalable solution architectures aligned with strategic IT goals, support development teams, and drive sustainable change across a variety of projects.

You will act as the bridge between business needs and technical solutions, designing future-proof application architectures in close collaboration with both business and IT stakeholders.

Solution Architect (Freelance / Payroll)

Your main tasks:

• Translate business requirements into solution architectures

• Design and document application and integration patterns

• Lead and facilitate architecture workshops with both technical and business stakeholders

• Ensure architectural consistency across implementation stages

• Apply enterprise architecture principles and contribute to long-term roadmaps

• Follow up on implementation adherence and steer teams where needed

• Share knowledge and promote architectural best practices in the organization
  

What we are looking for in you:

This is a further list of the experience that we consider important for a Senior Solution Architect:

• Bachelor or master’s degree in IT or equivalent experience (Experience is more important than education! Certification is a plus).

• 5+ years of experience as a Solution Architect

• Solid knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), modelling tools (e.g. ArchiMate, Sparx EA) and software delivery cycles

• Experience with system-to-system integration approaches: APIs, SOA, microservices, event-driven architecture, etc.

• Affinity with technologies such as .NET, Java, DevSecOps, and Cloud

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Able to define strategic roadmaps, influence design decisions, and lead workshops

• Fluent in English and preferably also in Dutch or French
