Hands-on Solution Architect

Your mission:

Brainsquare is looking for a hands-on Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of a new business-critical application within a high-complexity enterprise environment.

You will step into our Architecture & Implementation Team, working closely with analysts, engineers, and client stakeholders to shape a secure, scalable, and future-ready solution. This is a greenfield project where we’ll rethink existing ways of working and lay the foundation for an extensible platform. You’re not just responsible for the architectural vision — you’re also deeply involved in guiding its implementation. For this project, we’re specifically looking for an architect who remains close to the code — someone who understands real-world trade-offs and actively supports the engineering team in turning architectural decisions into working software.

We welcome both payroll employees and freelance professionals for this role.

Your main tasks:

• Translate strategic and business requirements into a robust and scalable solution architecture

• Design a secure, modular application with strong integration and data management capabilities

• Define the target architecture aligned with enterprise standards and future integration needs

• Collaborate with analysts and technical teams to assess feasibility and define implementation paths

• Guide the engineering team in translating architecture into working code, including hands-on support

• Ensure architecture complies with security, GDPR and SSDLC principles, including SBOM and auditability

• Contribute to technology stack selection, integration layer setup, and architectural documentation

• Facilitate architectural decision-making workshops and review technical risks and mitigations

What we are looking for in you:

This is a further list of the experience that we consider important for a Solution Architect within the context of this project:

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in IT or equivalent experience (experience is more important than education! Certification is a plus).

• You are a native Dutch speaker and fluent in English

• Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-grade applications using the .NET technology stack

• Solid hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, both from an architectural and engineering point of view

• A pragmatic mindset — you think platform-first, but deliver feature-by-feature

• Comfortable balancing strategic architecture with hands-on involvement in implementation

• Strong experience in API design, event-driven integration and modular architecture principles

• Understanding of identity & access management, secure development, and cloud-readiness

• You bring strong communication skills and can engage both business stakeholders and developers

• Experience in greenfield application development or modernisation projects is highly valued
